When being in the holiday spirit and having Christmas just around the corner... As well as being a lover of everything vintage and retro inspired. A few of my favorite things come to mind inspired by the holidays.
Of course to start I would have to say I can't go a day without at least listening to one of the songs from Elvis Christmas album... or at least having my son run around the house screaming "Santa bring my baby back to me!" He's an Elvis lover just ike his mama. I would have to say his rendition of White Christmas and Blue Christmas both come out on top for me. Little tidbit of info... did you know Elvis actually hated singing Blue Christmas? He had his backup singers sing obnoxiously along side of him, in hopes they would make the song sound foolish and everyone would hate it! Wrong!! It topped the charts and is still loved by many!
When it comes to holiday favorites, of course I'm a fan of shows like The Grinch, Home Alone, Charlie Brown and A Christmas Story... But two of my all time favorite are Miracle on 34th Street from 1947 with Maureen O'Hara and A Holiday Affair from 1949 with Robert Mitchum. Both are family movies that are romantic and make you all warm and fuzzy on the inside. I guess you could say I have a thing for the 40's!
With holiday attire I would turn to any of the following! Heart of Haute, Retrolicious and Voodoo Vixen. The prints are amazing... especially some really cute holiday inspired ones. Paired with a sparkly red clutch from Sourpuss, red lip, cat eye and of course a pretty poinsettia inspired hair flower from Oh My Lanta you can't go wrong!! All available at Vixens Boutique!
